άκρη (ákri) is a Greek word that translates as boundary or limit. It forms the first part of the compound word ακροβασία (acrobatics), which can be translated as “walking on the edge.” Ákri is a circus performance featuring an acrobat and a ladder that explores the concept of “the boundary.” The ladder, in its dual function as circus implement and stage set, represents a transition zone between two spaces, and is both a symbol of craft and of a way of life. How do we live the time between two moments? How do we inhabit non-places that, like a staircase, are not meant to be inhabited? How do we walk on the edge? The uniqueness of the project lies in the mixture of disciplines: theater, object manipulation, acrobatic movement and clowning.

Manel Rosés is a Barcelona-born acrobat always in search of irony and simplicity. He is co-founder of the Soon Circus Company and has worked with companies such as Circo EIA, Cirque du Soleil, and Escarlata Circus.
